• When you’re organizing a conference in Ottawa on short notice, and want to create a video or two, who are you going to call? SandBay Entertainment, of course.

An amazing company to work with from end to end, we engaged SandBay’s services just a few days before a national conference. This was our first time working with their team and it was a fantastic experience. In addition to being courteous, professional, and accommodating at the conference, their editing was spot on – we hardly had to suggest any updates!

In all, we ended up having SandBay create 31 videos - 15 videos in English, 15 in French, and one in Spanish. The final pieces were beautiful and impactful, and it was clear to us in several ways that the production team was very heart-centred, engaged, and invested in our stories.

In particular, we appreciated the care Han took onsite at the conference, putting people at ease, guiding people with her conversation. The camera/video team was also thoughtful about how they set up each shot and worked within the parameters of the event space. Our post-production collaboration and editing process was seamless – Amanda was always quick to respond and follow up with us, provide context around their creative decisions, and connect in a very warm and approachable way.

We look forward to our next opportunity to work with SandBay. When asked about our videos, we’ve been were thrilled to put peers and colleagues in our sector in touch with SandBay!

  • As an Indigenous charity, Wabano is dedicated to storytelling. We feel a responsibility to bring Indigenous ways of knowing and being to the public. Doing this is tricky - what stories do we share? How do we share them so that people can see their value? When is the right time to share them?

Through these questions, SandBay has become Wabano’s partner in storytelling. In the 10 years that Wabano has been working with SandBay, we have created a myriad of content, some of it hard-hitting like racism, others educational like drum-making and others inspirational like the Elders’ legacy series. No matter what the project, SandBay stays committed to supporting our narrative, to telling the stories that need to be told through the unique experiences of Indigenous people.

  • Working with Sarah Fodey and the team at SandBay was truly a collaborative experience. They worked alongside our team at Egale Canada to take stories, photos, and legal documents and transform them into a powerful feature length film to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in Canada. They were able to bring our vision to life and honour the hard-fought wins of our 2SLGBTQI communities across Canada. After touring film festivals from coast-to-coast-to-coast, the film continues to live on as a valuable resource and learning tool for classrooms and communities across the country. We are incredible grateful to the team at SandBay for their care, patience, and sheer brilliance in storytelling, and for giving us such a valuable resource to honour our history and 2SLGBTQI communities.

  • For nearly a decade, SandBay has collaborated with my company in conceptualizing and producing multiple video projects. Working with SandBay’s producers, project managers, directors, and writers has unquestionably enriched our communication initiatives in the video storytelling space.

Our projects at Nawaska require an experienced, reliable, and deeply competent guiding voice in video production, one that is capable of navigating all levels of stakeholder engagement with our clients – notably Wabano (Ottawa) and the Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (Toronto). Which is why I turn to SandBay again and again. The incredible impact of all the videos they create is matched only by the integrity, professionalism, and creativity with which they do their work. I unequivocally recommend SandBay for any video project you may have.

  • The Canadian Wildlife Federation has been delighted to work with SandBay Entertainment for over a decade. SandBay has been the producer of the iconic Hinterland Who’s Who public service announcement series, the oldest and most recognized wildlife awareness program in Canada. Their professional, high quality HWW productions have resulted in millions of dollars worth of free broadcast airplay and international award recognition. SandBay has also produced strong and compelling videos and PSAs for the Canadian Wildlife Federation that have garnered airtime through major broadcast outlets, reaching wide-ranging and diverse audiences. We would, without hesitation, recommend SandBay Entertainment to any organization looking for a highly creative team of experts whose unique knack of developing attention-getting narratives leads to productions that both educate and inspire.

  • SandBay Entertainment provides excellent, quality service. The IPHCC has worked with them on several projects. They have always been professional, and the products produced are beautiful. The company truly understands the sensitivity and importance of working with community members and representing them in a way that make their stories meaningful and representative of them. We will continue to work with SandBay and have no problem providing a reference.

  • We began our relationship with SandBay in 2018 and continue to consider them a valued partner for our video production needs. From the very beginning, they impressed us with their mastery of storytelling and their commitment to collaboration.

SandBay earned the contract for our digital video series, Survivor Stories, that enabled us to capture first-person testimonials from survivors of Canada’s LGBT Purge. SandBay was able to pivot the work to online production during the Covid-19 pandemic, when filming in personal residences was no longer an option. This allowed us to realize this body of work in a timely manner, avoiding the risk of losing any crucial participant voices. The series has been incredibly well-received, and is a key outreach tool for us in public education and awareness.

SandBay is a respectful company who pride themselves on guiding principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. We have witnessed this on subsequent contracts, as well as their creativity, thoughtfulness, and thought leadership. Any company or organization would be fortunate to have SandBay as a year-over-year vendor. The SandBay team is also a delight to work with. They are wonderful people who care deeply about their craft of storytelling and video production. I have absolutely enjoyed working with them over many years. They are real pros.
